After a brief hiatus, Meerapfel’s trio of cigar brands known as The Selection is returning to the U.K. market. The cigars have a new importer, C. Gars Ltd., as well as a new distributor, Global Leaf Co.
“The U.K.has always been an important market for us, and we’re excited to be back with a stronger foundation and improved accessibility for our customers,” says Melissa Meerapfel, vice president of The Selection. “Our cigars are crafted for those who appreciate quality, tradition and the art of fine tobacco, and we’re thrilled to offer them once again to the U.K.’s discerning smokers.”
The Selection (which was originally known as Selection Meerapfel) consists of three cigar brands, all of them sold only outside the United States. Machetero is the least expensive, a mixed-filler bundle brand made in Nicaragua that sells for 3.50 Swiss francs ($4.16) to 4.80 Swiss francs ($5.26) per cigar. It comes in five sizes.
Maestranza is made in Honduras, comes in five sizes and has prices ranging from 10.30 Swiss francs ($11.29) to 11.30 Swiss francs ($12.40) each.
La Estancia Edition Exclusiva is the highest priced of The Selection. The line comes in four sizes, with prices as high as 34.50 Swiss francs (about $38) for a single cigar.
The Meerapfel family is best known as a tobacco grower, the noted source of Cameroon tobacco. In 2022, the company launched a high-end cigar named Meerapfel, which is sold worldwide, including the United States.
