For the first time in the history of the brand, Cohiba will be offered in a Mexican wrapper. Next month, General Cigar Co. is releasing the Cohiba Riviera, a three-size line made with a cover leaf grown in Mexico’s San Andrés region.
Produced in Nicaragua at the STG Estelí factory, the cigars are intended to be medium-to-full in strength. Under the Mexican wrapper is a Honduran broadleaf binder and a filler blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan tobacco. The various regions where the tobacco was grown include Jamastran and Entrada in Honduras, and Condega and Estelí in Nicaragua.
Cohiba Riviera comes in three sizes: Robusto, measuring 5 inches by 52 ring gauge; Toro at 6 1/2 by 52; and a 6-by-60 Perfecto. They range in price from $19.99 to $23.99 per cigar and are packaged in 20-count boxes, save for the Perfecto, which comes in a box of 10. All the cigars are box-pressed, which is also a first for the Cohiba line.
While General has launched plenty of limited-edition Cohibas, such as the Cohiba Serie M and Cohiba Weller, the Riviera will be the first new regular-production line since Cohiba Royale was released in 2020.
